Day 10 of the Master Cleanse. I did It!
I feel so good! My Mind feels clear, and my body feels clean.
Day 11 and 12 I get to have fresh squeezed OJ. On day 13 in the afternoon my first solid food a raw salad. I'm looking forward to that.
I made two different types Of raw treats and I had no desire to eat them.
I'm saving those for Friday and to put in my drop bags at Rocky Raccoon.
I'm runn'n late so gotta get to work.
Enjoy the cleanse to those who are starting today. Please feel free to email me.

Fremont Fat Ass 50k
We had a great turn out for the Fremont Fat Ass 50k. (a FA is a race that has no fee, no aid, and no markings. There is no wimps or whining allowed.)
They are held all over the world in the month of January.
So today we put on one in Fremont. We had 22 runners show up and 20 finished the full deal.

I was running this not for me, but as a coach for my friend Michelle. I told her when she signed up to run it I would stay with her the whole way ,and I did.
I knew she would finish, even when she had a bad patch.
I was there to give Michelle whatever help she needed to reach the finish line 31 miles later.
I told her when to eat ,and drink. When to take a gel, and I even gave her electrolytes. I watched to make sure she wasn't suffering. She did awesome. I also had a goal of getting her to the finish in under 7 hours.
I was so focused on wanting her to succed.
I have been running ultras since 1998 and I have made many mistakes. I enjoy being the teacher and helping people so they don't have to suffer like I did so many years ago.
I didn't know any runners when I started running, I knew nothing and learned the hard way.
I want to share as much of my knowledge that I have learned through the years. I don't expect everyone to do everything I say, or use everything I use. I just figure take what you need, and use what you need with my advice.
Today was day 8 on the Master Cleanse and I felt awesome.
No solid food for 8 days and running a 50k. Hell, I didn't know what to expect, now I do.
I can tell others I ran a 50k on the MC and had great energy. Today I had more energy than I did all week.

Michelle was positive & that's what it takes to finish ultras. She learned there are lows, but hey they are always followed by highs.
One of my running idols Barb Elia ran with us from mile 18 to the finish. I want to be like Barb when I grow up and run like her.

The weather was a mix of fog, showers & sunshine. It was an awesome day.
Congratulations Michelle you ROCK! 6:47

I'm feeling better today.
I was able to run 6 miles and I did my crossfit during my run.
I really must be toxic , I can't beleive how toxix I am from taking antibiotics. The last time I did the MC I was feeling great all but 1 day.

I'm having a back pain today and I know it's just a sign of the cleanse.
It's day 5 so I'm half way there.

I'm on day 4 of the master cleanse.
I can really feel all the toxins being released,
from using the antibiotics. I have a bit more
energy today, so thats good. I have been sleeping a lot,
and doing my crossfit workout at home.
Ran only 5 miles. I will see how today goes.
If my energy returns I will go to crossfit and run 10 miles
tomorrow. For now I'm just taking it day to day.

The Master Cleanse
Here is what you need
for a 10 day cleanse.
:40 lemons organic preferred. Only buy enough for 5 days at a time or they will spoil
:At least 80 fl. oz of organic grade b maple syrup(usually sold in 32 oz bottles= 2.5 bottles)
:1/2 pound non-iodized sea salt( i recommend Celtic sea salt)
:2.5 oz of cayenne pepper(powdered hot red pepper)
: a box of heral Laxative(smooth move by Traditional Medicinals)
: At least five gallons of purified or spring water for the lemonade.
And another 3 gallons and a pint for the salt water flush and laxitive tea.
* these quantities are based on a 10 day cleanse 8 glasses of the lemade a day. Stanley Burroughs says to drink 6-12 glasses a day. So you can adjust your quantities.

2 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice.

2 tablespoons of grade B organic maple syrup,

1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and

8 fluid ounces of spring or purified water.

Thought I was going out for a solo 10 miler but looked down an realized I wasn't alone, my shadow was with me.
I'm doing a cleanse right now.
I'm doing the Master Cleanse. There is a book by Stanley Burroughs Called the Master cleanser. There is also a book by Peter Glickman called. Lose weight, have more energy & be happier in 10 days.
I have done this cleanse many times but for the full 10 days only 4 times and once for 12.
Each time I did it ,I felt great.
I decided after taking antibiotics in June ,and last week after HURT. It was time to cleanse.
I'm on day 2. The hardest days are 2,3 and 7. I felt it was the perfect time to do it. If you google The master cleanse it will show you a web-site.
I will blog the recipe tonight.
I think everyone should do this. It helps to get you to make better food choices and you really do feel better.

Quarry lakes/Alameda creek trail..
I only ran 13 miles was planning on running 15 but I did my crossfit work out on the trail. So that took up some time.
I decided I would start back up at Crossfit, going to join the one in Union City. I can actually run there. I most likely will do that a couple days a week to get a flat 10 miler in.
Was a beautiful day. Lots of birds and lots of cute dogs on the trail.
This is where the Fremont Fat ass 50k will take place next Saturday. Posted by Picasa

WISDOM CARD................
I AM GOOD ENOUGH...
I AM NOT RESTRICTED BY
OLD, LIMITING BELIEFS
FROM MY FAMILY OR FROM
SOCIETY...

I talked to my doctor. He said I am the first of his athletic patients who had issues with the levequin.
He has triathelets & marathoners he treats using the same treatment.
We decided that I won't use anything during my events. We also will not use that class of antibioctics. He wrote all my side effects down and will notify the drug company.
He is giving me a antibiotic that I would take only if I get an infection. He said to continue doing my natural stuff and drink tons more water during my events to stay hydrated. That's the key for me!
We will see how Rocky Raccoon 100 goes next month.
On a good note my energy is coming back and my joints are starting to feel better.
Last night was the first night I slept through the night and didn't wake up in pain.

This is the one person I wanted to finish HURT 100 miler.
Jimmy Wrublik. He's an amazing young man. He's 17 years old. Last year he dropped at mile 87. I just knew this year he would make it and he did.
Jimmy I'm so PROUD of you. YOU ROCK!!!! Posted by Picasa

Me leading the train down to Jackass ginger aid station.
I was really #9. I put my number upside down in the morning.
I came into the aid station and said I was number 9. They laughed and
said yeah to you your #9 to us you're #6. OOPS....
Darn antibiotic!!! I can just blame everything on that! Posted by Picasa
Levaquin and running an Ultra don't mix.
I knew I could suffer side effects from this drug. But had no idea how bad
During the race I experianced depression, muscle and joint pain. My tendons were sore. I felt dizzy at times. I urinated maybe a total of 7 times in 22 hours(not good) considering I pee every hour.
This is a scarry drug. I went to there web-site and read more about it. I know the ultralist had a diccusion about it. But I refused to read it. Only because I didn't get freaked out. Looking back I should of read it because I would of never taken this drug.
It's now Monday and I am retaining water and feel a little dizzy and my muscle pain is very severe.
I have never felt this bad or have been in this much pain. My legs are so sore mainly my calf muscles. Feels like someone hit them with a baseball bat.
Yes, it sucks.
I will go back to my doctor and talk to him. I will go back to trying the natural route which hasn't worked for me 100% of the time.
Question have any of you or anyone you know taken Levaqin or similar atibiotics?? And what side effects have you had.
I'm off to go walk around a little and soak up the sun. Posted by Picasa

Life doesn't always go as planned.
Niether me or my friend Darren here thought we would take the 100k option at HURT.

I felt good the first loop on the second loop I didn't feel right. I knew I might have issues during the race because I was taking a antibiotic called Levaquin. I was given this to help so I don't get a bladder infection in my 100 mile races.
There is a list of side effects and I think I experienced most of them. All my joints were so sore I could hardley run. I knew in my heart there was no way I could go another 40 miles. I would of never finished in time because I couldn't run fast enough.
This picture was taken at mile 60 me and Darren were getting ready to head out on the 2 mile loop to finish the 100k.
Yes I was positive the whole time even if I wasn't going to finish the 100 miler.
I love this race and will be back again.
I have run the 100 miler 6 times so I am ok with running the 100k race this year.
When I get back I will have to talk to my Doctor to see if there is another antibiotic I can take.
Hey the good thing is I didn't get a bladder infection :)
I really would of rather put up with, the bladder infection then experiancing the low energy, and joint pain, and neck pain and low energy.
Hey everything happens for a reason.
Friends don't be bummed because I did run the 100 miles. I'm not! Posted by Picasa

I'm so over wanting to get a tattoo in Hawaii. I think I rather have my current artist Julio work on me.
H&H they are super expensive. $200 bucks an hour. They wanted to charge me $700 for what I wanted. I just want something small .
You're paying for the name.

I had a fun day just wandering around and people watching. I love people watching. It's fun.
One more night of good sleep. The race is Saturday and I doubt I will sleep much tomorrow night!
